OVRdrop is great for Steam VR, but we need something like this on Oculus. V seems to be the closest thing to an answer that we have for this. I stream Quill and games but the window is counter-intuitive.
1) Instead of having buttons, let us choose a window on the desktop that we wish to show. Currently, I desire to show the twitch chat window when I stream but it shows the whole stream.
2) Positioning and attaching - Having a world position, a local HMD position (which tracks with the headset) and a wrist attachment option.
3) Rotation, offsets, and opacity - with local offsets, and other options like one sided so that we can attach the window to our wrist and it will be invisible until we twist our wrists, this would give streamers the necessary tools to see what is happening in stream while not lowering the immersion factor.
4) The menu system currently gets in the way and is very limited in function. Have this as a menu on the window itself so that we can move the window around and the menu and keyboard will go with it.
5) Allow for removal of keyboard. The keyboard and some of the interface buttons get in the way of page navigation within the window.
What I love so far is the fact that, although it doesn't do exactly what we want out of the box, it is possible to circumvent the system to get close to what we need. It is very functional as is. I am glad we can move the window, and we can enter an HTTP addy. And having it always overlaying onto the system is great. Cross platform system! Kudos. I hope to see more specific functions listed above added as I believe this will be the final say in overlay software.
To only show Twitch chat, edit one of your V bookmarks to:
https://www.twitch.tv/popout/__________/chat?popout=
and replace the blank with the username whose chat you want to view.
6) Ability to add more windows.
7) did I mention how difficult it is to do anything in VR when the menu is always randomly appearing wherever it wants, without reason, and there is no way to move it? Seriously though, attach it to the main window or let us be able to move it out of the way. Thanks!
